Public
School
Student Welfare means everything
that the school community does to meet the needs of its
students. The aim of our policy is to provide
a safe, secure environment in which our students will
achieve success in learning & develop self-confidence
& positive relationships with others. We have established whole school
programs to promote self-esteem in our students. We actively
encourage & value the participation
of parents &
community members in school & class
programs.

While we emphasise the prevention of unacceptable behaviours in students to lessen the need for consequences, we do have clear procedures for dealing with students who chose to disregard school rules.
Our school rules are:-
|
|
I must act and play safely. |
|
|
I must respect other people. |
|
|
I must care for our environment. |

At the beginning of the year, teachers & students work out their own classroom rules which go under similar headings to our school rules. The consequences for breaking the rules are clearly stated by the teacher so that students understand that they have a choice - which is simply to display good or bad behaviour.
The plan for dealing with unacceptable behaviour in the classroom is described in Classroom Discipline.
Students who swear, harms others or wilfully destroy property are sent to the principal immediately & may be suspended. Click for Severe Clause.

An anti-bullying program is conducted K-6 for all students in order to combat the problem of teasing & bullying.
A series of social skills lessons targets a "Behaviour of the Week" to further develop children's skills in interacting with others in a positive way.
Sun Protection - No Hat, No Play
Our policy is to raise student awareness of the increasing threat of skin cancer & to encourage the wearing of hats in the playground. This is especially important when children are outside for long periods of time such as sport, excursions & camping. We would be pleased if you would make sure your child wears a hat every day. If a child does not bring a hat to school, he/she will stay in the shaded passive areas at recess & lunch. Expensive hats are not required.
The school policy is that every effort will be made to contact parents when a student is hurt or falls ill. Failing this, we will keep the student under observation and/or seek medical attention if necessary.
