The library is a very valuable resource where children can study as a class, group or individuals. The library is fully automated with a network of 7 dedicated computers which control borrowing, cataloguing & enquiry. An Information Laboratory, connected to the school network, is available for research. It is here that students learn information skills which are so important for lifelong learning.

A student AV centre is available for students to use when they need to access information on video, sound or film. A satellite receiver, provided by the Department of Education, allows us to access educational satellite & ABC/SBS broadcasts.

Any parents who wish to borrow from the library resources are most welcome. We have a small collection of Non-English & bilingual books for those families who wish to foster reading in another language. There are books from around 10 languages available.

Opening hours

* Each day during school hours - 9am to 3pm

* Mon-Thurs lunchtime 1-1:30pm

* General school borrowing Tuesday & Friday afternoons 1:40-3pm

Borrowing

* All borrowers may borrow using their designated library borrowing card

* Borrower cards are issued automatically to all students & staff. Parents & community members are issued cards on application

* Borrowing limits for children vary according to the child's grade. External borrowers may borrow 4 items.

* Use of a library bag is encouraged but not essential

* During the school holidays (excluding Christmas) we ask students to make "the holiday decision" - ask mum & dad if they can borrow over the holidays. If parents say:-

-Yes; books may be borrowed

- No; books should be returned & new ones chosen after the holidays

- Forgot to ask? books are returned & new ones chosen after the holidays

Borrowing time

* 3 weeks from the date of issue

* Book exchange/return can be done at any time in that period

Overdue Books

* After the due date, the book is overdue

* The computer system will not allow borrowers with overdues to continue borrowing.

* Books may be renewed.

* Overdue notices are issued to students weekly through their class teacher

* Long-term overdue notices are issued as a message to parents

Lost or Damaged Items

* If you think a book has been lost, contact the library first. We will:-

- check the shelves to ensure that the item has not been returned (it may not have been scanned by the computer/incorrectly scanned)

- ask you to check with your child's teacher to make sure it is not in the classroom books

* If the book is still missing, contact the library to organise for a replacement copy. Please note that this service attracts a GST fee.
