Some Year 6 students presented excellent speeches at our Federation Assembly. Their presentations were so good that we decided to publish them online.

What it means to be an Australian.

I think Australia is a good country for lots of different reasons. These are some of my reasons. We are a Multicultural Nation. We are tolerant of other cultures. We have freedom of speech and we are a Democratic Society. Our country is a beautiful country and we have a range of landscapes. We are a peaceful nation. Our country supports other less fortunate people. Australia is a great country all the people who live here are very lucky. I’m never going to leave Australia. I am Proud of being an Aussie so should you.

What it means to be an Australian to me.

Being an Australian means to be free and independent. I’ve been to many other countries but no country beats Australia. I’ve been to the United States. The cities are a disgrace. I’ve been to Europe. The weather is so cold, also the beaches in Australia are so beautiful. The great tropical weather and the society of Australia is great too. Even our culture is funny. I also like the way Australian accept migrants from different countries too. I also like the way we celebrate national special occasions. Also we have so many natural parks. I’m proud to be an Australian.

What it means to be an Australian.

Being an Australian means a lot to me because of the benefits you get such as peace, security and better education. I do not naturally come from Australia, meaning I was born overseas in Yugoslavia but I am an Australian citizen. In Yugoslavia you also get security and good education but there is constantly war, whereas Australia is peaceful. People from other countries migrate to Australia mainly because there is war in their country. Australia is the most multicultural nation in the would. I am proud to be an Australian Citizen. by Andrea

What it means to be an AUSSIE.

G'day. The population in Australia consists of many different nationalities for example: Greek, UK, Indonesia and China. The immigrants from these countries enrich our lives with their cultural and religious backgrounds. Being an Australian doesn't necessarily mean your an Aborigine, you can come from any country. The climate is varied in Australia. The highest temperature is 50 degrees C and -20 degrees C is the lowest. We live in a free and democratic country under a Westminster system. There are some unique animals here that are not found anywhere else in the world. We should protect these animals so they will be here in generations to come. My favourite Australian animal is the Platypus. This country has very rich and colourful natural resources valued through out the world. These are coal, iron ore, gold, diamonds and natural gas.

I’m proud to be an AUSSIE!”

What it means to be an Australian.

It means a lot to me to be an Australian because in the country my family and ancestors came from you wouldn’t have this much fun. When I first saw the Olympians, I saw many champs and that made me happy because our country is the best. In Australia it has a good temperature too because in the other country my family came from was very hot or very cold it was either one of those it was never warm. The best thing is I have the time of my life.
