The Rescue Adventure The earth in 2023 was a very different planet. There were tall buildings with silver space ships flying around. Robots were fixing things like ants in a nest. In a nearby military base three astronauts were preparing for an important journey. Major Corse, Captain Boneskull and Sergeant Globstick were going on a dangerous rescue mission to save their friend, General Tomas. The space ship Endeavour was at the platform about to blast off. Steam was coming up from the generator and pushed it up. The space ship glided through the atmosphere at tremendous speed. Blackness surrounded the rocket as it sped through space. The astronauts saw the red planet Mars and numerous stars along the way. Suddenly, the space ship was in the middle of a meteor shower. Major Corse called out to the crew, “Turn 20 degrees east and quick before we are destroyed.” The space ship was saved and continued on its mission. After a day, the men saw the planet Jupiter in the distance. Suddenly, the rocket was on firer and the control panel was damaged too. It crashed on the planet like a flat pancake. The boss said, “Get out of the space ship before it explodes.” That’s when they saw an alien . The alien was like a big zombie with two long eyes and a pimple on his nose. The slimy alien walked like a penguin towards the crazy crew. Sergeant Globestick was the one who took the first shots towards the alien’s head. The alien’s body turned purple with anger. He spat out acid from his head and hit General Tomas. The crew used their super jet packs and the alien exploded out acid and caught on fire. The crew wandered around when suddenly they saw an eyeball sticking out of the ground. He seemed a happy alien. The alien helped the astronauts to fix their space ship and return to Earth with General Tomas. Michael

Tommy’s Adventure One night during the school holidays, Tommy Too Too was trick-a-treating in the streets of Campbeltown. Suddenly, he walked through a gate and knocked on the door. It opened and there was nothing but old furniture with spider webs all over. Frightened, he went up the stairs and walked into a bedroom. Something white past behind him. He looked back but there was nothing there. So he walked closer and sat on the bed. Sleeping dust shot up and he fell asleep on the spooky bed. He suddenly woke up and ran out the room as quick as a rabbit. He ran down the stairs two at a time and tried to get out of the door. Finally, he knocked down the door and he lived happily ever after. Brooke

The Tyrannosaurus Rex Attack The cave was dark and smelly and the drawings of dinosaurs on the wall shone as the fire glowed on them. Rock, the cave man, was in his cave cooking his breakfast which was meat he just caught. Rock’s home was surrounded by huge trees with the sound of pterodactyls shrieking and swooping to catch their prey. In the distance he could see hot bubbly lava flowing ferociously down the volcano. Rock could hear loud foot steps like lightning claps at the entrance of the cave. Hot steam was coming out of the dinosaur’s nose. Its pointed claws and razor sharp teeth were grinding the ground. He stomped towards the entrance and tried to eat Rock. Suddenly, Rock turned to grab his spear and plunged the knife of the spear into the dinosaur’s chest. Tyrannosaurus let go of Rock. He then ran back into the cave to grab a sharper spear and returned to the entrance of the cave. Rock used the spear and stabbed Tyrannosaurus again, but Tyrannosaurus just gave a huge roar and walked back into the forest. The cave man followed Tyrannosaurus Rex. On the way Rock met a new friend Braciosaurus. He had a big lump on his head with bulging eyes. His long neck and tail swayed as he walked. Together they followed Tyrannosaurus Rex to the volcano where he lived. Braciosaurus swung his powerful tail and hit him in the chest leaving a huge hole spurting blood. Tyrannosaurus Rex fell down like a ton of bricks. The two friends dragged the dead dinosaur back to the cave. Rock cut him up and ate him for breakfast. It was the best meal he ever had. Guy

Pippi’s Adventure It was a hot summer’s day and Pippi was in the lookout of her boat called The Old Rusty. She was looking for an island with hidden treasure. Suddenly, a storm brew up and the big brown boat rocked in the water. The waves crashed against the side of The Old Rusty and it lunged deeply into the deadly, black ocean. Lightning and thunder struck the boat and it started to break. A huge hole appeared on the deck and water sprouted like a fountain. Pippi was drifting in the cold water until she landed on a deserted island. She started to build a shelter with sticks, leaves and sand. The next day she went for a walk in the bushes and found a dark cave. She found a small hole in the centre of the cave and accidentally fell in. Pippi landed on the hard ground and then she saw treasure all over the floor. She was so happy she jumped into the gold pieces. Pippi put the gold into her dress pockets and went back to the shelter. Suddenly, a boat passed by and Pippi called out to it. She was rescued and lived happily ever after with her animals. Natarsha

Timothy and the Secret of NIMH II One summer morning, Timothy Frisby was playing with his brother and sisters at their summer home in the forest near the Metrick River. The green and brown summer house was a nice little house with lovely flowers out the front. Inside their home, a tidy living room took up part of the space while the bedrooms at the back, were made comfortable by soft leaves and fresh grass. All of a sudden, Timothy Frisby decided to go to Thorn Valley and visit those powerful rats who moved his home last autumn. Tim had many friends among the rats, especially Justin who was his hero because he saved their home. Early one morning, after breakfast, little Timothy Frisby set off on his journey to Thorn Valley. It was foggy but the sun was shining through the big green trees. Although cold, Timothy was wearing a warm vest and a cap that had on the inside: to Timothy best wishers for your 7th birthday. After a few hours, Timothy got trapped in a brown thick net spread across two trees by mean old humans to hunt animals. He felt scared and alone with his little heart racing while he was struggling to get free. Then Timothy remembered he had a pocket knife and hacked at the net. His journey was delayed by half an hour but Timothy was soon back on track. Near the owl’s house he met Jeremy, the crow, who gave him a lift to Thorn Valley by riding on his back.While he was up there he saw winding roads like a thin ribbons and trees as small as snails. Tim and Jeremy landed near the corn field and they soon realised that something was strange about the place. The silence was like the darkness of the night. Suddenly, they smelt a putrid odour as they walked in the main hall. Tim was shocked by the terrible sight -- all the rats were dead. Their death still remains a mystery. Jeremy took Timothy back home to the nice summer home that smelt as sweet as roses. At home Tim felt safe and sound and lived happily ever after.  By Kate McKinley
